Earth Day is an annual event celebrated globally to support environmental protection. The day is celebrated on April 22 every year. That doesn’t mean you have to wait until then to celebrate. My daughter and I decided that we would celebrate by giving back to the earth, our community, and ourselves! We focused on our local park. We started by walking, instead of driving there. This minimized our carbon footprint and improved our health by getting a little cardio in. At the park, we went around picking up garbage that was left by others. This not only made the park cleaner, but it also provided a safer environment for the local wildlife of birds and other animals. Equally important, it made the park a safer environment for us humans as well! With the coronavirus pandemic, it is especially important to keep public areas clean to help reduce the spread. By doing so, we can hopefully start to enjoy life as we remember it – pre-pandemic – soon. If we all do our part, we can restore our ecosystems and move forward to a cleaner, healthier life for all. Look for Ideas Locally
Stores like Lowes are providing ways to help you celebrate Earth Day. Check out Lowes Spring Fest 2021. They are offering free garden-to-go kits, a tree sapling on Earth Day, and more. All are such wonderful activities to do with the family! These kits do require a reservation and are limited so be sure to register for your kit before heading to your local store.

Earthday.org is an organization that has helped over a billion individuals mobilize their green efforts. This year’s theme is Restore our Earth. If you are interested in participating in local clean-up efforts, you can use their map to search events near you. Hosting your own event? Share it with your friends, family, and community on their site too!
Don’t have the time to donate, but still want to participate? Earthday.org has multiple partners like The Canopy Project that could use donations as little as $1 to help with the reforestation project. For every dollar they receive, the project pledges to plant a tree.
Whatever way you choose to observe this day, I hope it makes a memorable impact on you and your community. Whether you physically get your hands dirty or participate in a virtual experience, make your mark. There are so many options for you to contribute.
